Telelink Business Services is a Sacramento low voltage contractor that has been wiring California's commercial buildings since 1983. We are family owned, now in our second generation, and we still do the work with our own technicians. This page covers the history, the license and the work we install.

How Telelink got started#
Telelink Business Services opened in Sacramento in 1983 installing business telephone systems, which is where the name comes from. The work started as phone lines and key systems for offices around the Capitol. It grew into voice and data cabling, then structured cabling and fiber, then cameras, access control, intercom, Wi-Fi, television distribution and nurse call on the same plant and the same network.
We are family owned and now in our second generation. Carson Cody runs the company day to day: he reviews the bids, manages the projects, coordinates with general contractors and the field, and closes the jobs out.
License and public record#
Telelink Business Services is a licensed C-7 Low Voltage Systems Contractor, CSLB License #472017. The classification, status, bond and insurance are public record and can be checked at cslb.ca.gov before you award anything.
What we do today#
We install and service the systems that live on a building’s low voltage cabling: structured copper and fiber cabling, network room and IDF buildout, wireless networks, IP video surveillance, access control, video intercom and entry systems, CATV and MDU distribution, business phone systems, audio visual and nurse call. Every one of those systems is installed by our own technicians rather than brokered to a labor supplier. The people who show up on your site work for Telelink, report to the person who bid the project, and are the same people who write the closeout documentation.
We work with the platforms our clients ask for most:
- Cisco Meraki for switching, wireless, security appliances and cameras.
- Yealink phones with hosted VoIP.
- ButterflyMX video intercom and smart access for multifamily.
- DoorKing telephone entry and gate access.
When a specification calls for something else, we install to the spec. We hold no dealer or partner agreements with any manufacturer.
Four scopes on a typical job belong to other trades, and every bid names them:
- Fire alarm, provided by the project’s fire alarm contractor. It is the one express exclusion in the C-7 classification, and we coordinate the interfaces.
- Burglar and intrusion alarm and alarm monitoring, which run under a BSIS Alarm Company Operator license held by a licensed alarm company.
- Electrified door hardware, provided under the GC’s Division 08 hardware scope or by a licensed C-28 contractor.
- Line voltage, dedicated circuits and telecom room bonding, provided by the electrician.
All four are named in writing at bid time so nobody discovers them at rough-in.
How we like to work#
Most of our projects come to us as a Division 27 or 28 subcontract under a general contractor. That work means a bid with clear inclusions and exclusions, submittals that show the electrical and door hardware handoffs, RFIs that ask a specific question and propose an answer, and coordination drawings that put our pathways where the mechanical and electrical trades are not.
A lot of our work happens in buildings that are already occupied. Residents, staff and students are in the building while we work, so we issue written notices before entering a unit, close ceilings at the end of every shift, and plan cutovers so cameras and entry systems stay in service through the transition. Our project case studies show what that looks like in practice.
At closeout you get test results for every copper link and fiber strand, as-built drawings with the labeling scheme, an equipment list with manufacturer and model, and configuration exports for anything we commissioned. Every cable, port and rack is labeled to the scheme in the as-builts, so the next technician can trace a run without guessing.
Where we work#
Sacramento is home. Our crews, estimating and project management are based here, and the Sacramento and Central Valley region is where most of our day-to-day work happens. We take projects statewide, scheduled as planned work blocks. Completed projects include the State Controller’s Office in Sacramento, Touro University in Vallejo, Little Tokyo Towers in Los Angeles and Horton House in San Diego.
